FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Global leaders are considering a new world financial order in the wake of the financial crisis which is threatening to tip the global economy into recession.

European union leaders meet on Friday in Brussels and a Group of 20 central bankers and finance ministers gather in Sao Paulo at the weekend of a G20 leader''s summit in Washington on November 15.

Ahmed Qurei, the Palestinian Authority official leading all peace talks with the Jewish state, made the controversial statements in a small media briefing Wednesday attended by WND as well as by a Palestinian media outlet and an Arab affairs correspondent for a major Israeli newspaper.

Texas Congressman and 2008 presidential candidate Ron Paul has warned that the euphoria surrounding the election of Barack Obama combined with the overwhelming fear of major international crises could facilitate a cataclysmic shift toward a new world order.

CAMP DAVID, Md. – European leaders are lobbying President Bush at the Camp David presidential retreat on Saturday to support a summit by year''s end that would craft ways to reform the world financial system.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and European Commission President Jose Manual Barroso are trying to convince Bush that now is a good opportunity to tighten and better coordinate control of the financial markets, in response to the economic crisis that has shaken markets around the globe.

Before settling in for the opening festivities, Bush jabbed at China''s human rights record and spoke with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin about fighting in the breakaway Georgian province of South Ossetia.

Russia sent tanks in after Georgian troops began a military offensive Friday to retake control. Bush and Putin discussed the situation at a luncheon for world leaders hosted by Chinese President Hu Jintao, said Gordon Johndroe, a Bush spokesman, without giving details.

The U.S. urged an immediate cease-fire and sent an envoy to the region. Bush received regular updates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice talked to the parties involved.

"I want to reiterate on his behalf that the United States supports Georgia''s territorial integrity. We urge all parties—Georgians, South Ossetians and Russians—to de-escalate the tension and avoid conflict," White House press secretary Dana Perino said.

In Hersh’s most recent article, he reports that this meeting occurred in the wake of the overblown incident in the Strait of Hormuz, when a U.S. carrier almost shot at a few small Iranian speedboats. The “meeting took place in the Vice-President’s office. ‘The subject was how to create a casus belli between Tehran and Washington,’” according to one of Hersh’s sources.

The stunning comments from Democrat Sen. Barack Obama that the United States needs a "civilian national security force" that would be as powerful, strong and well-funded as the half-trillion dollar United States Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force have mysteriously disappeared from published transcripts of the speech.

In the comments, Obama confirmed the U.S. "cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we''ve set."

Campaign officials have declined to return any of a series of WND telephone calls over several days requesting a comment on the situation. Nor have they posted a transcript of the speech on their website.

But transcripts posted at both the Wall Street Journal and Denver Post do not have the critical comment that has raised such concern.
