It's Time to Get Serious About Food

As the days roll by, the news for the economy is not getting any better. It's time to get serious about how we are going to survive in this crisis.

I know I talk a lot about food and the importance of storing it. And I will talk about it a lot more. Food is life itself and so is water. If you have never gone hungry, other than being on a diet, then you have no idea what you are in for, if it ever happens to you.

Many of us have been waiting for "The Big One". I'm not talking about earthquakes, I'm talking about the one big thing that will happen that shows us once and for all that we are slipping into fascism.

The problem with the big one is that there is no big one.

What we are seeing today in our government and rule making bodies is a descent toward something like Fascism but laced with Communism. It doesn't matter what you call it, in the end you can't tell one from the other.

Saving, Spending and Christmas

In order to become more self-sufficient, you will have to spend some money for the equipment you will need. In order to avoid all the preservatives and other chemicals no one can pronounce that are in most store bought food, you need to prepare your food from scratch whenever possible. This will save you money, but it will not always save you time. Much of saving money means relying on your own labor for things you used to pay others to do for you, such as baking breads and making pies.

It is more important than ever that we become as self sufficient as possible. The predicted economic downturn is now coming to pass. We've got to save at every opportunity and learn to do things that will make us more comfortable and make our lives bearable in the event that the worst of these dire predictions come true.

Ranting about it and being angry has its place, but let us try and do something productive for ourselves and our families while there is still some time left to do so. We do not have to take this on the chin. There are many things we can do to help ourselves and when we are upset we are in a reactionary mode which renders us unable to move forward. We must become action oriented and we must do it right now. Our lives may depend upon it.

There was much debate regarding the people's strategy of who to vote for during this past presidential election.

One idea was to vote in McCain because he couldn't get anything done since many believed he would continue the same policies as Bush. The people, already alert to Bush's tactics, wouldn't allow our freedoms to be further eroded due to this knowlege. This was a flawed strategy as highlighted by the fact that Bush, the supposed lame duck president with the help of a despised Congress, managed to loot the treasury at the 11th hour of his term.
